After the Dead Reckoning Part One, IMF (Impossible Mission Force) agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) needed to find a way to secure this strange key and discover what it was supposed to be used for. Finding out that he has a former foe involved, Gabriel (Esai Morales), an assassin that has ties into Ethan’s past prior to the IMF, things become much more personal. Having to fight off Gabriel’s French assassin, Paris (Pom Klementieff) and avoid the United States intelligence team led by Jasper Briggs (Shea Whigham), and his partner Theo Degas (Greg Tarzan Davis), the challenges become much larger.
While trying to retrieve the cruciform at the Abu Dhabi International Airport, the team that includes leader Ethan, his best and close friends, Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), an IMF computer technician and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg), an IMF technical field agent, they encounter a master thief and pickpocket, Grace (Hayley Atwell), who has somehow become an important piece to the mission. Realizing this Ethan recruits Grace to join the team and help divulge what this mysterious key is actually needed for. During their crusade they recognize that Paris is now a perfect ally against Gabriel after he betrayed her. With the team strengthening their bonds, now time becomes a factor, as they need to locate the rabbit's foot, so they can try and control the source code to the entity and prevent World War III.

Having every country trying to seek them out, the IMF force has difficulty avoiding the director of the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency), Eugene Kittridge (Henry Czerny), and current president of the United States, Erika Sloane (Angela Bassett). Sending many agents after them, Ethan has to stay one step ahead and also infiltrate Gabriel’s scheme before he corrupts their plans to stop the entity. This adventure has much to endure as the team races around the globe to save mankind, before it’s too late.
Like in the previous installment, director and writer Christopher McQuarrie put together an outstanding journey through the life of Ethan Hunt, aka. Tom Cruise. While including an introduction to all of the past Mission Impossible films during the start of this sequel, he definitely had it all play out on screen exceptionally well. Christopher included many amazing stunts and special effects that helped bring the audience into this unthinkable voyage through the crazy known expeditions they must undertake. Along with his excellent storyline, McQuarrie kept with tradition and delivered Hunt and his buddies the way we all expect them to be ruthless and determined. Finally, the entire cast brought forth a magnificent performance that captured the narrative perfectly.

As in the other exploits, Ethan gave us a wonderful, but fun rendition of his character for all to witness on the big screen. The delivery of the film in the IMAX format is just priceless and a clear hit for all to see in person. Cruise delivers again and again, and this time was no exception, as the action keeps you intrigued, and the quest moves on Tom and the team continue to impress.

Final Comment: I based my grade on a spectacular tale, an exceptional presentation from the performers, with awesome exploits and computer imagery throughout.
Stars 4.5 out of 5
