Project Hail Mary Earth's Last Effort

If earth was threatened by some type of destruction and the only solution was a one-way trip to discover the answer. Would you sacrifice yourself to save everyone? Project Hail Mary is an experience that we all get to endure as this hero does what no one else could and tries to find a way.

A mysterious phenomenon began to appear in our solar system. This ominous light has cast itself from the sun to nearby Venus. After years of study and a probe bringing back some of the substance for us to study. It appears our sun is now dying. With fear of famine and earth's destruction one ditch effort is made to try and save our planet.

Now a schoolteacher and once a brilliant mind in astro science Dr. Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) finds himself needed for this crazy last-ditch effort to save the earth. An adventure that he has unexpectedly partaken in and also must recall all of his knowledge to survive the journey. With support from Eva Stratt (Sandra Hüller), who is leading the project on earth, and his new friend Rocky (James Ortiz), an alien Dr. Grace encounters, they must race against time as they take on this exploration to save both their worlds.

With this achievement being a one man show, Mr. Gosling must carry the load throughout this masterpiece. He does have excellent support from Sandra and James, along with the other members of the cast from his flashbacks he experiences. Their performance is outstanding and deserves a fair look at some awards. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller put together a fantastic storyline that grabs the audience's attention and keeps you interested throughout this long film. Lord and Miller also include spectacular special effects that help drive the story. These include the many wonderful space images, amazing light forms, alien spaceships, interesting rock formations, and much more.

This marvelous event is an engagement for everyone and definitely worth your time, especially in the IMAX version. For a first quarter film, which usually struggles to be remembered, so far this is a hit of the year.

Final Comment: I based my grade on the remarkable special effects, the attention-grabbing script, and the stellar execution from the cast.
