Have you ever had a disagreement with a loved one or best friend and the solution that was given to you was to try and see how things are from the other's viewpoint? Sometimes a therapist may recommend that you perform a role-play exercise so you can see things as if you were that special someone. This allows you to somehow understand how your counterpart views the world and in hopes gives you a clear and better picture about the occasion that caused the conflict that you are now having. This sequel (Freakier Friday) is based on the 2003 version of Freaky Friday, where Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan underwent a body switch to see how things are from each other's perspective. This time things are very similar but now it involves two more fun loving people to the mix.
Getting ready for her book tour Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis), an author of psychology books, has many concerns about her daughter Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan), Tess' daughter and music producer, who is now a single mom struggling with her own issues. Anna’s daughter and Tess’s granddaughter, Harper Coleman (Julia Butters), an avid surfer, is a teenager in high school and at that age where a relationship with your mother is very difficult. Tess tries and helps Anna, by taking Harper to school and spending time with her, while she has been growing up. Now Anna wants more time with her daughter and Tess seems to be blocking those opportunities.

Meanwhile, Harper has her own problems at school, her nemesis, Lily Davies (Sophia Hammons), the new British student, who has managed to grab the attention of everyone at school with her strong disposition and charm. Together they find a way to make things difficult for their parents, especially after Lily’s father Eric Davies (Manny Jacinto) and Harper’s mother Anna meet. Things get wild from there and continue down an interesting path that later includes Anna’s former boyfriend, Jake (Chad Michael Murray), Anna’s music client Ella (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), Ryan (Mark Harmon) Tess' husband, Madame Jen (Vanessa Bayer) the fortune teller, Pei-Pei (Rosalind Chao), Chinese restaurant owner, and many more amusing performers.
Based on the first rendition Freaky Friday from 2003, director Nisha Ganatra did a tremendous job putting together an excellent storyline that now included the grandma, mother, daughter, and future stepdaughter in the hilarious personality mix up comedy of the year. Nisha did a fabulous job creating and developing the scenes along with adding the funny scenarios throughout the narrative. The performance from the cast was outstanding, not only from Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsey Lohan, but also from Julia Butters, Sofia Hammons, and Manny Jacinto. Being able to stage your original self in the beginning of the film to now have to change your role to become another person is very difficult and they all executed it flawlessly.
When deja vu happens to our original characters giving them the chance to experience life from a different outlook, the laughter begins to roll in. This amazing event perfectly allows everyone a joyful and enjoyable encounter for all. Definitely worth seeing and good for the teens, but does have some rude humor, language, and suggestive references.

Final Comment: I based my grade on a fantastic plot, a wonderful implementation from the actors, and their hysterical antics.
Stars 3.75 out 5
